Well, I am sorry to say this, but I wouldn't recommend building a suspension bridge.A would recommend building a truss bridge out of wood. A lot of people use Balsa wood.
As for glue, any common wood glue will work. Elmer's Carpenter wood glue works very well with Balsa wood. You can try adding a little bit of water to the glue. That will help the glue penetrate into the wood, creating a stronger joint.
Don't use super glue.
I would make your bridge 45cm long. Don't try to make it just barely long enough, or just barely under 50cm.

You can start by making two sides. The hard part will be joining the two sides together. You need to make sure that the bridge is perfectly vertical, otherwise it won't hold very much.
