   How do I make a bridge out of 100 toothpicks and glue?

   Every bridge is different. If it was a real bridge, questions a designer would ask include:

- what load does it have to carry? The designer needs to know the weight, position of the load and how the load is applied (e.g. is it hung from a piece of string or will it sit on top of the bridge)
- what is the span? 30cm in this case.
- how can the bridge be supported i.e. what are the foundations? Will it sit on smooth tables, or on a surface with friction, or can it be glued/fixed down?

There's no way to advise how best to make your bridge without knowing all these things.

   try letting the toothpicks overlap. This makes it stronger.

   be exact. Elemer's glue? that's going to be hard. you should (if you can choose your own glue that is) use woodworking glue.

   My advice is overlap the toothpicks, it will make them stronger, use the appropiate glue for what surface the bridge will be standing on, maybe (i tried this in a science fair once and it turned out really good) cut up a bannanna and spear it onto the toothpicks, after applying the glue
