I'm working on a concept to build a footbridge over a 50' span that must be removed each winter. There is no option. It must be removed by law in order to create winter level clearance. My initial concept: A suspension bridge that has removable plank sections and the suspension cables can then be pulled tight to the anchors (removing the sag) effectively raising the remaining bridge elements far above the river.
Any thoughts out there or designs you've come across that may be suitable for this kind of application. I've looked all over the web and haven't seen anyone that has done this before.
